I got saved in May of 1991 at Green Street Baptist Church in High Point, NC. It was only after my best friend was persistent in inviting me to church, that I went, just to get him to quit bothering me about it. I didn’t want God. I wasn’t looking for God. I was happy doing what I was doing. I was living “my” life: a life filled with sin and shame and rebelliousness. Little did I know that God had another plan for my life. Praise God, on that Thursday night at that youth meeting, the Holy Ghost came and convicted my heart and showed me I was a sinner. For the first time in my life, I realized that I was lost and on my way to a Devil’s Hell. I had no hope of escaping that awful place, outside of the grace of God and the shed blood of Jesus Christ. I went forward and asked the Lord to save me that night at the age of 16 yrs old. Not only did He save me, but He changed me also. God had other plans for my life. In May of 2001, God called me to preach.
I grew up in church and made a profession as a 6 yr old child. I went to church faithfully, read my bible, and prayed, but I was miserable on the inside. I had no peace and no joy. Then God opened my eyes at 32 yrs of age and showed me that I was lost. I had religion – but no personal relationship with the Lord. I got saved on June 2, 2007. I enjoy serving the Lord with my family and can’t wait to see what He has in store for us.
God allowed me the privilege of getting to marry my elementary school sweetheart. Angie and I were married right out of high school after I had completed Basic Training in Orlando, FL and “A” School in Millington, TN for the US Navy. Afterwards we were stationed at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA.
We have 5 children whom God has trusted us to raise for His glory.
- Jessica – age26, is in North Carolina and serving in her church faithfully.
- Justin – age 20, is very friendly and helpful. He also loves playing different instruments and singing. He was the song leader at LBC in California
- Jordan – age 19, is very friendly and outgoing. He also loves to sing and ran our sound system at LBC in California
- Jenny – age 17, is quiet but very friendly. She loves to sing and play the piano. She became the piano player at LBC in California after Jessica moved away.
- Julia – age 16, also loves to sing and is very outgoing. She never meets a stranger.
While visiting some friends my wife and I had made while in the military, we found ourselves in Chester, California. While there, we noticed there were NO Independent Baptist Churches for us or anybody else to attend. The Lord began to burden our heart for the town of Chester and the surrounding areas. After several years of praying, ministry preparation, and then deputation, we moved to Chester, CA and started the Lighthouse Baptist Church of Chester in July2017.
In May 2019, due to the fires and the county changing the rules of the Community Center, we could not find a place to live or another place to meet for church services. Heartbroken, my family had to come to the realization that God had closed the door for us in Chester.
We began to pray and seek what the Lord would have for us next. All the while, we were staying busy preaching and serving wherever God would open doors.
God had burdened our hearts for the west and never removed that burden. Knowing this, we took another trip out west in October 2019, praying that if God wanted us there, He would show us. It was during this trip in the Salt Lake City area that God placed a burden on our hearts for those people. Through preaching, prayer, and personal bible reading, study, and devotions; God solidified the call on our lives to reach the people in the Salt Lake area with the Gospel of Christ.
